What is Urania Mobile?
Astronomy, weather science and related sciences are very attractive
subjects for teaching. These sciences have been evolving fast in
recent years, and the revolution in digital communication brought
loads of information, available on CD-ROM, video, CD-i or the
internet.
For schools, a visit to an observatory or planetarium is
often difficult to organise. If you would like to get a
presentation about astronomy, suited to your needs and presented
at your location, Urania Mobile is what you need.
Urania comes to you with a mobile observatory. Since it was
started up in 1996, Urania Mobile has introduced more than 60000
people to astronomy. With the most recent technical
aids (video, computer, CD-i) and the most up to date information (recent
weatherimages, images from the Hubble Space Telescope), but also with
more traditional
material (Baader Planetarium, telescope, star maps,...) experienced
teachers
from Urania Public Observatory bring a multimedia course adapted to your
needs.
Urania Mobile is there for everybody, from 5 year old kids to
groups of adults.
For every age and schooltype, adapted programmes exist.
For high schools, our teachers interact closely with the official
programme.
Selected themes can be presented on demand.
Urania Mobile also offers different programmes for organisations.
We can give you a general astronomical show, but also a more
theoretical introduction on a specific subject, coupled with an
observation night.
The possibilities are almost unlimited. Do not hesitate to contact us
so that we can offer you what you are looking for!
