Urania Public Observatory - Jozef Mattheessensstraat 60 - 2540 Hove - Belgium - 03/455.24.93

  • From the Antwerp ring (from the Netherlands):
On the Antwerp Ring (R1), take exit "Berchem" (exit 4), direction "Mechelen" (left). This takes you to the "Grote Steenweg/Mechelsesteenweg" (N1), on which you follow direction "Mechelen." After passing through "Berchem" and the centre of "Mortsel," you pass traffic lights at an "Antol" gas station. At the next traffic lights, take a left turn and follow the road until you reach a round-about. Take the second street to the right and afterwards the first street to the right. This is the Jozef Mattheesenstraat. Urania is located at your left hand side.

  • From the Antwerp ring (from "Gent"):
On the Antwerp Ring (R1), take exit "Wilrijk" (exit 5, at the "Crowne Plaza Hotel"). Turn left, and cross the bridge over the highway. After the bridge, go immediately to the right, and take the "Singel" (R10) in the direction of Berchem. At the second traffic lights (at a church), turn right, cross the highway and take the "Grote Steenweg/Mechelsesteenweg" (N1), on which you follow direction "Mechelen." After passing through "Berchem" and the centre of "Mortsel," you pass traffic lights at an "Antol" gas station. At the next traffic lights, take a left turn and follow the road until you reach a round-about. Take the second street to the right and afterwards the first street to the right. This is the Jozef Mattheesenstraat. Urania is located at your left hand side.

  • From Mechelen:
Follow the "Antwerpsesteenweg/Mechelsesteenweg" (N1) in the direction of Antwerp until Kontich. When you reach a Texaco gas station on your left hand side together with a "Delhaize" supermarket, take to the right (beware: this is a complicated crossing, you have to turn right and left to reach the Vredestraat). Then take the first street to the right followed by the first to the left. This is the Jozef Mattheessensstraat. Urania is located at your right hand side after the first street crossing.

  • From the center of Hove:
On the crossroad at the height of the church, take the Geelhanlaan. Where the Geelhandlaan joins with the second street to the right, there is an arrow with Urania indicated on it. There, you follow the arrow and at the end of the street, turn to the left and cross the bridge. Afterwards, you arrive at a round-about, turn around and take the third street on your right. The Jozef Mattheessensstraat is the first street to your right. The observatory is on the left side of the street.
